This weekend, I am running to Canada.
No, I'm not ditching Thor and the kids. The Detroit Free Press 1/2 Marathon runs over the Ambassador Bridge into Windsor, Ontario, and then back through the tunnel. So I am literally going to run to Canada.
Which brings up the question: why? Why am I going to get outside by 7:15 on a Sunday morning when it's supposed to be 32 degrees and run for two hours until I end up right back where I started except sore and with bigger blisters?
I don't know.
There might be a writing metaphor in there. Something about all the time spent and ending up back where I started but the experience being worth it. Something about the 10,000 hours is takes to be a genius and the hours I spent training to run this. Something about rhythm and take-off-running beginnings and satisfying endings.
Or there might not be a metaphor. Either way, I'll report back Monday, if I don't get to Canada and decide to keep running.
Wish me luck.

No metaphor; you're just crazy to do either. :)
Good luck on your run, and hope the weather stays fine; we're volunteering for marching band competition tomorrow and don't want rain either.
enjoy!
better you than me. ;)
somewhere in my mind resides a cath who is much more energetic, still rock climbs, is a rock star on tour, tap dances on stage rather than in the kitchen to the dismay and embarassment of my kids, is 20lbs lighter and a proficient practitioner of advanced yoga techniques, without her back going out.
in the meantime, and reality, good luck! don't break a leg....
I wish you luck, warm appendages, and speed.
good luck, coach!
Diane, yes, let's all do a dry dance.
cath, I don't even need to really be able to do all those things; I just want the time and patience.
Thanks, Amber and Thorp!
Wow! I am in awe. Can't wait to "hear" how it went. And what about passports...do they make you show passports? :)
Thank goodness! At first I thought you were On the run, and that would be quite a different thing.
Good for you, doing this!
There are lots of metaphors here. No gain without pain, 90% perspiration, 10% inspiration. (Umm...sorry. Those aren't metaphors, those are cliches...)
Have fun on your run!
