How I Will Spend Today

Three important things happened this weekend:

1. I got my first stranger fan mail for Two of a Kind (from someone who I don't know in real life or online. Or my mom.). Let's just say the words "beautifully written" and "so true to children" were involved. I heart fan mail. Did you go buy yours yet?

2. I talked to my agent. She loves The Tale of Ant. Yippee! She also had great, great suggestions for making it even better. Which I now have to, like, do.

3. Remember when I wiped out sledding and sprained my wrist and the doctor told me it would heal completely if only I gave up writing, typing, cooking, lifting children, and driving? Remember how I laughed?

Now, I will spend all day today like this:

"Ready to revise. Revved up and ready. Here we go! Okay. Hmm. Um, er. Huh." Type type type (lefty). Delete delete delete (also lefty). "Okay. Um. Hmm. Aha! Nah. Um."

Is it lunch time yet? Maybe I'll go read that fan mail again.

ah yes, i recall going through physical therapy and being told to absolutely not lift my the extreme clinger 3-4yo. or even dip slightly to hold his hand, pry him off, etc...riiiiight.

Thorp, when I wrote that, I thought, "That's ambiguous, isn't it?" and blew it off. Teach me to be lazy!

cath c, it's amazing how much I like a pic of myself (when all the laugh lines are covered with my wrist brace!)

I only gave your photo a cursory glance, and it looked like you were eating a hat. And I thought, "Aha! Jacqui is revising again!" Glad you've got the fan mail to cleanse the palate, so to speak.

oh love, soft as an easy chair...
...hi Jacqui
Sledding can be a lot of fun!
Making memories is worth a sprain or two but I did learn to watch from the top of the hill instead of sledding myself. Just setting them on their sleds and giving them pushes is full time work anyway. Besides, I didn't have a snowsuit, those help cushion the wipeouts.
....I remember one winter with especially deep snow when I had them sledding right out the kitchen window down the hill to the lake! Took me some work shoveling to get the trail (sled chute) so it would go past the trees and not into em. Still, sleddings exiting...

....Hope you feel better!

Diane, ha!

lake, I know, but I love going down myself! Sledding out the kitchen window sounds awesome, seriously.

...it was a snowy winter that year, lol.

....You should make
"Two of a kind gosledding!"
An adventure where they go to the country with mom and see otters sliding just for fun (like real otters do) as the children slide on a hill by a lake where mom used to slide when she was little...and maybe mom slides and wipes out a time or two as the children watch and she says, "Don't wipeout like mommy!" or something like that. They can have hot chocolate from a thermos after and everything! Plenty of exiting action...
and they can visit an uncle who lets them sled out the kitchen window too! lol
"Look, there's otters playing! Wow!" and the snow slowly falls in winters wonderland...

Congratulations on the fan mail!

A doctor (male) once told me not to do any housework for a month. I had a five-year-old and a two-year-old at the time, plus a husband who doesn't believe in sorting socks. I'm sure that doctor noted 'hysterical' in my medical file.

Mary, a medical prescription against housework could come in handy. But yeah, my doctor even said, "You're not listening to any of this, are you?"

lake, you are a wealth of ideas; you should write them.
