Snow day!

I am really quite a Grinch about snow days. When I was a kid, and especially when I was a teacher, snow days were the best invention ever. Now, I have to admit, I've been up since 5am and have already ended two different games for fighting and doled out two time-outs and, well, IT'S ONLY EIGHT INCHES PEOPLE. DOESN'T THIS TOWN HAVE A PLOW? What? Yes, you have to go play in the snow. I don't care if it's 20 degrees out and you can't breathe because your overall-style snowpants are your two sizes too small. Get out there. Don't let your brother run in the street. Much. And take the snow shovel.

Sigh. Last year, I was so cheerful about it. You can read my less cranky snow day post and snow book recommendations here.

And I hope your snow day is all cocoa and marshmallows.

Ahhh...snow days! My kids get mad at me b/c I make them do schoolwork on snow days. They get to play in the snow -but still have to do some butt-in-chair time, too. Usually. :) We get snow so rarely, though, I didn't have the heart to make 'em do it last time we had one. The perils of homeschooling and a mom who is also a bit of a "grinch" when it comes to snow. :)

hugs,
Donna

Ha! Snow is not special up here, especially on a snow day :) You'd fit right in.

But DON'T even get me started on sick days!

Boni, who's off to watch The Iron Giant with a sick kid... (sigh)

I'm a snow grinch too, and I don't even have to separate fighting children and push (encourage) them to go outside. I wouldn't go outside right now either ... maybe later.

Sending cyber hugs and hot chocolate, and and wishes for warm, melting weather!

Snow days are great in my house. We don't have to get up before 6 am, and Boy was so pleased about the break he went out and did all the shovelling without my asking. All that snow is bright and white and cheery, and there's leftover birthday pie for lunch. Hooray for snow!

Snow days around here are so few and far between that it is definitely a rare treat for my son when he gets a snow day.
He's kept the driveway shoveled and helped me with stuff around the house. :) It's been a good day.

Donna, I always wondered what homeschooled kids did on snow days!

Boni, at least when they're sick, I can justify massive quantities of couch/movie time.

sruble, enjoying cyber chocolate...

Diane, my true response is unprintable :)

Susanne, I can't wait until Destructo is anything but a major hazard with a snow shovel!

The kids around here haven't gone to school but one day in the last 3 weeks because of snow and they are closed the rest of the week...YIKES! If I still had a child at home, I would be going crazy...grin...

How people feel about snow has a LOT to do with how much of it they have to shovel -- have you ever noticed that? I thought it was peachy stuff until I had to shovel a whole load of it off the sidewalks.

I'm such a wimp. It's just very cold here and I'm a grinch about that. I threw a little private temper tantrum the other day, struggling out of a pair of long johns. Shameful.
